The multiplier event set up to close the project was organised on the 3rd August at the Marina Hotel Resort in Sliema.
It attracted the local media, as well as the families of participants who have witnessed their cares as they were having their English improved during the months spent in class.
All participants to the project were invited and attended the conference, all proud for the commitment to achieve the challenging enterprise, especially for mothers coming to the class with their children, but not only, there were also workers rushing after work to the class, or economic vulnerable individuals struggling to pay their transport ticket.
The event started at 10 am and opened with an introduction by Alec Bvumburah, the Project leader who addressed his deep thanks to all those who made the project a success, his words were directed to the participants, and also to the funding bodies, namely the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and employment.
The second address was of the project manager Heddy Bvumburah, whose role has been from organising the class schedules, dealing with trainers and teachers, to being the child carer when needed.
All the behind the scene of the project were presented, the liaison officer and the media officer, respectively in charge of promoting and interesting the communities to join and building a communication with the local media and with the stakeholders.
Participants to the projects shared their learning experience with the public, in particular, Mohammed from Somali said he feels more comfortable now going to his local shop and being able to order anything without being shy.
Certificates were delivered by Mr Darren Grasso, the new Director, EU funding, representing MEUSAC, in replacement of Mrs Mandy Falzon, unavailable.
The event was closed by a networking lunch in the Marina hotel restaurant.
