It all started with an information fairs where for the first time, aspirant students, project managers and teachers were introduced to each other.
The Paola local council hosted the events who were held for the first on the 11 November 2018, and the second on the 4th April 2019. More than 50 people responded to the invitation, a turn up that was a clear indication for the need of such a project.
Cross Culture International Foundation was launching Improving The Cultural Competences of Third Country Nationals, a project aiming at equipping immigrants in Malta with language and cultural orientation skills that would ease their integration process.
For the occasion, Colombians, Egyptians, Sudanese, Serbians, Venezuelans, Algerians and practically all continents were represented during the two events.
The same trend followed in the classrooms, where after registration, lessons started at MCAST campus in Paola.
Every Saturday, the students were given three hours of English and cultural orientation classes at elementary level first, then at intermediate level, for those who had completed the first cycle.
Teachers Tendy, Juniper and Maria took turn to introduce the students in the language most spoken in their host country, also teaching them traditions and custom.
The adventure took four months. There have been some drop outs, but also more students joined, there have been some challenges, in particular for mothers, but a child care had been organised to help them follow the class with a peaceful mind.
A good family spirit had developed during the class, friendship have been created. Now it is time to reap what has been sown.
This 3rd August, all the students who have completed the course will be awarded with a certificate of completion.
The ceremony will be held at the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort, San Julian's
