Learning, Your Way

It’s time to learn, improve and integrate!

Cross Culture International Foundation ( CCIF)  is offering Elementary and Intermediate Cultural Orientation and English for daily living courses.

The aim of the project is to promote the integration of TCNs and refugees within Maltese society and prepare them to positively contribute to the well-being of the Maltese society. This will be done

through English language and cultural orientation training. The project will last 20 months, with 2 cycles of the training courses.

Participants will have 2 sessions every fortnight (2hours 30mins each). The first session will be focused on cultural orientation, whereas the second session will focus on English language training in relation to the topic tackled during the first session. In between, participants will have site visits/expert talks (as the case may be) relevant to the topic being tackled at the time. Training sessions will be non-formal, interactive and involve hands-on activities. The cultural orientation and English courses are both covered at elementary and Intermediate levels.

Preparing the Certificate Giving Conference

It all started with an information fairs where for the first time, aspirant students, project managers and teachers were introduced to each other.

The Paola local council hosted the events who were held for the first on the 11 November 2018, and the second on the 4th April 2019. More than 50 people responded to the invitation, a turn up that was a clear indication for the need of such a project.

Cross Culture International Foundation was launching Improving The Cultural Competences of Third Country Nationals, a project aiming at equipping immigrants in Malta with language and cultural orientation skills that would ease their integration process.

For the occasion, Colombians, Egyptians, Sudanese, Serbians, Venezuelans, Algerians and practically all continents were represented during the two events.

The same trend followed in the classrooms, where after registration, lessons started at MCAST campus in Paola.

Every Saturday, the students were given three hours of English and cultural orientation classes at elementary level first, then at intermediate level, for those who had completed the first cycle.

Teachers Tendy, Juniper and Maria took turn to introduce the students in the language most spoken in their host country, also teaching them traditions and custom.

The adventure took four months. There have been some drop outs, but also more students joined, there have been some challenges, in particular for mothers, but a child care had been organised to help them follow the class with a peaceful mind.

A good family spirit had developed during the class, friendship have been created. Now it is time to reap what has been sown.

This 3rd August, all the students who have completed the course will be awarded with a certificate of completion.

The ceremony will be held at the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort, San Julian's

You can find the agenda of the ceremony here.
